How to Recover Download Links From Old Pages/Broken Links

It’s so frustrating when you see something you want to download, and the page is no longer there. Here’s how to fix it (most of the time)! I just saw a post from another Simmer looking for some old CC, but thought I’d make a little tutorial for anyone else looking too! Screenshots and full instructions below the cut, with an example included. Happy Simming!
First step is to find the last link to what you want. Here’s a link to @MagicalGirlSimmer’s Bun Hair. Take note of the date this was posted (Jan 13,2017)

Annnnd there’s the dreaded ‘Not Found’ message! Don’t despair, help is at hand!

Copy the link to the post you want in the address bar and navigate to the Wayback Machine! Here’s the nearest date, so we’re going to click on that…fingers crossed!

Paste that link and hit Browse History

Yay, there’s the post. The image is missing, but it’s clearly the right file. Hit your download link (here, it’s SIMFILESHARE or ONEDRIVE).

There’s the file- it’s still on Simfileshare. Don’t click Download here though, it’ll take forever. Instead copy the Simfileshare address in the Wayback Machine toolbar, and paste that into your address bar. There you have it!

This works with any website, not just Tumblr, but of course it’s hit and miss. Especially if the file has been deleted for good.
Hope that helps!
